I grew up in church. We were there all the time, especially if it was Men’s Day, Women’s Day, Youth Day, Children’s Day, Easter program, Christmas play, Vacation Bible School, Revival…you name it, we were there. I would sit in the back with my friends only to be scolded by the ushers for trying to have a good time. But even amongst all the giggling, gum chewing, and note passing, I remember hearing the “mothers” of the church say things I didn’t quite understand. Sometimes their words made me laugh and I would wondered what in the world they were talking about.
As my years increased and life began to “happen,” I started to understand. With each experience, the “mothers” words didn’t seem so foreign anymore. Their words resonated in my mind and over the years, those girly giggles turned to triumphant tears. I now know what they meant. Those phrases and clichés now make sense to me. So today, I want to take an old school praise break because the “mothers” of the church were right…God has been good to me!
So…..here I go!!!!
If I had 10000 tongues, I couldn’t praise Him enough.
Every day with You is sweeter than the day before.
He’s a heart fixer and a mind regulator.
He’s my burden bearer. My heavy load sharer.
He didn’t have to do it but He did!
He is sweeter than the honey in a honeycomb.
He’s my way maker.
No cross, no crown.
You can’t beat God’s giving. No matter how you try.
He’s my company keeper.
He’s my leaning post.
Jesus…I just love the sound of Your name.
He did it a long time ago. He didn’t wait for me to get myself together.
Everything changes at the mention of His name.
Can’t nobody do me like Jesus.
I’m wrapped, tied, tangled all up with the Lord.
If you grew up in church like me, come on! Join the praise break! Who is He to you? Who did the “mothers” in your church refer to Him as? What do you remember them saying about Jesus that you may have laughed at as a child, but today, you know it to be true? Take a minute today and give Him the praise He is due…yes, that’s one too! He’s done so much for me, I just can’t tell it all. Oops…there’s another one!
Now it’s your turn….GO!
